We are currently looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the growing Ukraine-based team of one of our international defence-tech clients.
You will work on a technically challenging physical system from an early stage, taking ideas from clean-sheet design through prototyping, testing, iteration and manufacturing.
This is a highly hands-on role with significant technical ownership and the opportunity to influence key product and engineering decisions as the company grows.
- Own the mechanical platform from clean-sheet design through working hardware.
- Design structures, joints, mechanisms and actuator integrations.
- Develop hardware with a strong focus on performance, durability, modularity and serviceability.
- Build, test and rapidly iterate physical prototypes based on real-world performance.
- Collaborate closely with firmware, software and electronics engineers on system integration.
- Support DFM and the transition from prototype to manufacturable hardware.
- Make engineering decisions around materials, manufacturing methods and mechanical performance.
- 6+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience building robots, UAVs, UGVs or other high-performance actuated hardware.
- Strong CAD engineering skills and hands-on experience with SolidWorks; NX is a plus.
- Strong understanding of mechanical structures, joints, mechanisms and actuator integration.
- Experience working with motors, actuators and mechanical transmission systems.
- Experience taking physical hardware from design through prototyping, testing and iteration.
- Good understanding of materials, DFM and manufacturing methods, including working with manufacturers or suppliers.
- Basic understanding of electronics / PCBs and ability to work effectively with firmware and software engineers.
