We are looking for a Software Engineer based in Kyiv to take ownership of the software ecosystem supporting our defense-tech hardware product.
The role focuses on two key areas:
- Mobile Application: Develop and improve the mobile app used by operators and testers to interact with and control physical devices.
- Device Management & Data Platform: Build and maintain a system to track devices, manage software and hardware versions, collect test results, and monitor device performance, giving engineering teams clear visibility into real-world operations.
Our core firmware team is based in Shenzhen, China. You will work closely with them, acting as the main software engineer in Kyiv and connecting real-world testing and user feedback with ongoing firmware development.
This is a hands-on role combining mobile/web development, backend engineering, and hardware integration, with significant ownership and the opportunity to shape technical decisions as the product evolves.

- The app. Take over our existing app on day one. Make it work with the newest hardware, make it easy for a soldier to install and use (Ukrainian and English), and keep it updated every time the device changes.
- Device Inventory Management. A centralized system that tracks every device, including its serial number, hardware and software versions, settings, and repair history, ensuring all information is always up to date.
- Data from the devices. Get the data each unit records during a test off the device and into a database, so test results, errors and usage are stored and searchable instead of living in chats and spreadsheets. Build it so it works for 10 units and for 10,000.
- Tools for the team. Simple web pages and dashboards for the field team, engineering and customers.
- Firmware support. Update, recover and read logs from any unit in Kyiv without waiting for anyone. Give the Shenzhen team clear, specific feedback and make small changes with them when needed.
- Has built and shipped a real product, mostly on their own, and can show it (links, app store, repositories).
- Strong at both the app side (mobile or web) and the data side (databases, data pipelines, APIs). Which programming languages or tools they use does not matter at all.
- Comfortable enough with low-level code (C or C++, embedded devices, serial and Bluetooth connections) to debug a device and talk to firmware engineers as an equal. Does not need to be a firmware expert.
- Clearly excellent at what they do, lots of energy, takes ownership, moves fast and finishes things.
- Ukrainian, and English good enough to work every day with people in the US, France and China.
- Comfortable around hardware and soldiers.
